Tūranganui-a-kiwa

The Gisborne orchards located in Turanga-nui-a-Kiwa were acquired by the Trust in August 2022. This unique acquisition saw us establish a relationship with Te Whānau-a-Taupara, through a perpetual lease process. We met with trustees of the Trust, and discussed whether there was support for our acquisition. They were supportive; and have quietly provided us with scope to ensure our investment prospers, especially following the impact of Cyclone Gabrielle on the region the following year.

This acquisition is currently divided into two orchards, Harper and College both of approximately 20 hectares each. We will eventually look to rename the orchards a whenua Māori name. The crops grown on these blocks include persimmons, gold kiwifruit and mandarins. The orchards are renown for their resilient kiwifruit crops, and their vibrant orange persimmons and mandarins.
