"Our journey in NTT begun on June just before the start of winter pruning season. We were recently arrived in the country and struggled with work search during the lockdown. At that time we got another offer, but with no thinking we chose NTT. During the interview, we were showered with smiles and after leaving the office we thought "I want to work with those people". We had a great experience working here and never regretted of our choice. We always were instructed with every job we were doing and provided with all the necessary tools. Every little question was answered and explained right away, we've been always informed about hazards and how we need to avoid it. We felt safe and appreciated.... It was a great experience and we're glad to be part of this team. Thank you!"

I joined Ngai Tukairangi Trust in 2020. I was part of about 40 people who joined together to start thinning. I haven’t wanted to leave since. I get along with the staff and have become familiar with the way things run. The Manager and People & Culture person have a good manner about them. We were always getting checked up on. For me, it has been the new learnings I have gotten. It has been a change of scenery from other Horticulture jobs I have been in. I have a place here at Ngai Tukairangi and I value the work I have been able to do. I enjoy it.

When Michael heard about Ngai Tukairangi Trust. He read up about it and the thought that the concept of looking after our land & people was an awesome philosophy. He wanted to be part of. It would see him venturing down a completely new experience and journey but he was ready for a change & a chance at learning something new. It hasn’t been a chore coming to work, the people are awesome & set the tone. Our team had a good vibe and we were able to get to know each other while working. I am part of helping the countries economy. It is more then just picking!! We are part of feeding NZ and the World. I am proud to be part of that.

I was unemployed, looking for any employment opportunity that would give me a chance. Ngai Tukairangi Trust gave me that chance and I went for it as soon as I got the green light. I enjoyed the work, although the first few days your body takes a hit before it gets used to it, I still enjoyed it. The engagement from the staff, the People & Culture Coordinator would come out and give us treats. The Manager of the Orchard would come and ask how we were. We were given a chance and cared about.

Easier then any other horticulture job I have been in. I don’t have to carry ladders and watch my step. I am always on the ground. I am under shade and I can work with a team. It is all about team work, we are all one big team working towards the same goals. We constantly saw management. The People & Culture Coordinator would come out and bring treats, ask how our days are going and stop to listen to what we had to say. We were well looked after. The Manager would come out and talk to us, make sure we were doing the right thing and to see if we were ok.
